Do My Ways Please Him?

Sometime around mid-December 2019, I started giving God this quick prayer, “give me a fresh anointing.”  Recently, God and I had a conversation about this.

Now, I guess this would be a great time to tell you all that yes, I do actually have conversations with God.  There is no burning bush or giant voice from Heaven, it is a conversation that I hear and feel within my own spirit.

Ok, where was I? Oh right, conversation with God…anyway, I had just said my quick prayer and just as I thought We were all wrapped up, He spoke to me.  “You are asking Me for a fresh anointing, while still giving Me the same ole you.”  (insert wide-eyed emoji here)!

What was God trying to tell me?  Asking God for a fresh anything; anointing, blessing, miracle- while we are still in an as-is mode, is like putting clean clothes on a dirty body.  We have this tendency of approaching God with our hand open the way a toddler approaches their mom for a snack.  Our relationship with God is a reciprocal one.  We must do our part.

Proverbs 16:7 says “When a man’s ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies be at peace with him.  In Romans 12:2 the bible says “…and be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” (KJV)

As a woman of God, I am expected to undergo a transformation-a process where every single day, I strive to be more and more like Christ.  In this way, my ways will please God.  My goal; our goal, should be to live a life that is pleasing to God.

This morning, I had a conversation with one of the mothers at my church.  She shared with me that she has three daughters, each having three different personalities, but each being just like her.  I joked that if they do something that annoys her, she cannot get upset with them because they get it from her.  The same is true with God.  We need to be transformed by the renewing of our mind.  Philippians 2:5 says “let this mind be in you, which is also in Christ Jesus” (KJV), so that when God sees us-the way we behave, our mannerisms, our words-He can say “she got that from Me.”

When a (wo)man’s ways please the Lord, He will make even our enemies be at peace with us.
